Hi was just about to mention bulbs. Specially if hid they can do weird things. Not actually the buld that does the weird stuff its the bcm's reaction to the strange feedback that it's getting.

I was wrong about the DRLs, I checked things out on mine and found the DRLs stay on, could have sworn they went off................. I would have thought one light would point to globes not both but then it shouldn't surprise me, the BCM see's a problem and shuts down the circuit.......... don't go to a dealer anyway for globes...............

Could be 1 of the globes or ballasts freaking the thing out, however usually with hid the glove will go a funny colour before it's shits itself. Maybe a dodgy relay too????
AlfaObd and a good dongle is your friend for errors, saves the ball ache of taking it to the dealer.
BTW, my drl stay on with headlights, but only 1, hmm.

Try disconnecting 1 light and see if the same thing happens, then try the other light, might narrow the search a bit.

Bulbs can do funny things when on their way out but probably unlikely to be the cause here (assuming both bulbs are acting up in unison?). Rarely do two bulbs blow or flicker at exactly the same time due to wear, usually one plays up and the other one might join in some time later, maybe never. IMO a connection/fuse/relay issue would be more logical, something common to controlling both lights. But then, logic doesn't always pan out...

The car is now over 6 years old and they are dim as most of you know, So I have ordered 2 new ones - Osram Cool Blue Intense @6000K Colour range. Standard is @ 4200K or something like that. So it should put out more light and we will see how that goes.
BTW - I am a Qualified Motor Mechanic (ex Holden).... I have checked all the usual things.
I will update you all on how it goes.

At 6 years she's probably getting ready for new bulbs regardless. Will be interesting to see if the problem goes away...
