So €900 to be back on the road

Hard to find a replacement but if I did find one would be about €2000 - €2500 basically the same vehicle.

Also have black leather interior which is not that common on what’s for sale here in Ireland: seems to be way more grey leather interiors out there
If you find out what went wrong with the engine , be sure to post it back on here.
If it was me doing an engine change I would pull the inlet manifold off and remove the swirlflaps and also clean all the crap out of the manifold, then do an EGR delete. Also delete swirl motor. This would be so much easier with the engine on the floor in a garage than later in the engine bay.
Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.

Replace the oil cooler too while you're at it.

Hang on to all of your old injectors and other senders too,

That must be a cheap labor rate, @ 500€ that is in my view only a estimated budgeted 10 hrs work to remove and replace the engine, assuming 50€ an hr which is a bargain basement labor rate. 50€ is approx $77Aud. Any mechanic worth his ‘salt’ wouldn’t likely out of bed in this country for that hourly rate. And if my assumption is correct then that is lean budgeted number of hours.
And after all the money is spent it is still a nearly 20year car now with a engine of unknown antecedents.

Let’s compare ‘horses’ by comparing a nearly 20year old Jeep to nearly 20 year land cruiser that is still worth between $10 to $20k depending on spec, so new engine is a probably a practical consideration. Also The Toyota also is highly unlikely to need a new engine at 20years.

Over here the labor is even less, although the engine is worth double or more.
And a good 2.7 registered in the lower tax bracket is worth 5000+ euros.
