Diesel for me as I got sick of towing my camper trailer with a petrol Wrangler.

Don't listen to the diesels have more issue comments, they are no worse than any other motor. The V8s have had their own issues.

Sorry guys

i didn't intend this to be a what's best rant, simply wondering what the majority of posters drove, as it appeared to me that most comments related to diesel powered vehicles.

i was starting to feel out in the cold with my petrol powered car that's all

Don't worry about starting a rant, it's all a bit of fun between us here.

You will find that that the majority of GC owners have the diesel, then the V8 and then the V6.

emac, I don't know if there are any stats kept on members by engine type to answer your original question (moderators?), but my guess is the mix would be something like Nanook has suggested above.

Agreed, no smart arse stuff intended in here, or shouldn't be anyway. However people are keen to explain their reason for choosing a particular engine type according to their particular need.

Hi Seacomms, what sort of economy are you getting on average towing that caravan of yours?

Hey Ed, at 95 to 100kmh I get 16.5 L/100km. At 80kmh it drops to around 14, at 60km average drops back to around 12.5. Done a lot of driving a resetting to see what it does! Overall average is sitting on 13.8 at the moment, but that's staying at a location for 2 weeks and only 200km average between camp sites.

Thanks for that, yep, that is what I thought it would do too. Missus and I are intending to do what you are doing early next year, just have to sell the house first!

Most I have towed with mine was a 2T boat but will be looking at a caravan about 20ft once we sell up.

Cheers
Ed.
