I am pretty sure you an get anew diode plate for the alternators. As it is the diode plate that normally overheats and fails. A good sparky may have a listing .
Denso and Jaylec make replacements egpart numbers.
Denso 104210-6590
Jaylec 65-8536
Jeep 4801835 AC
The Cometbattery site Drover listed has the above part numbers or eqivalents.

When my alternator failed in my 2012, I am pretty sure I replaced it with a Jaylec, and that failed a year later, supplier changed it under warranty and I sold the car 12mths later so not sure if it is still going. may have just been a faulty unit.
Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Maybe just a bad one. Mine is a Jaylec, had it in for 4 years now.

Good Morning all
A huge thank you to you all for your responses, this is the only forum I ever go on as everyone is so helpful, reading the posts has settled down the panic for my family and I, and great to know that we have other options. Thanks all. I am dropping into Jeep today to have a chat, but they are saying as it was a tow in they wont look at it until Tuesday. keep you posted

Thanks Olmate, we are still having fun as the caravan park we are staying at is really nice with a pool and close to the local shopping centre, Jeep are also covering the cost, we just picked up the hire car that jeep are also covering for one day and dropped into the Bundy Jeep, well wasn't that an experience, we were told they might not get to it to tomorrow afternoon, as they have a 48 hour tow in policy, It was towed in on Saturday. I was not happy with that explaining that I have a family that is stranded without a car to the response " that you are not the only people in the world, I almost put one on his chin. the arrogance and rudeness was not acceptable under the circumstances. we will be calling jeep aus this morning and I am organising another mechanic.
