Thinking along temp lines it wasn't overlly hot either when you went on that run so could be coolant flow or dodgy thermo ..... when I have thermo dramas I would start by pulling the wax plug out, allows flow all the time with restriction, many just remove the thermo all together which just allows full flow and engine doesn't get hot enough, just removing the wax plug lets it get near operating temp, unsure if it can be done with these dumb thermostats though.... this style seems to be the thing now, for some reason possibly all to do with a $$$.

I had planned to do the oil and filter again sooner rather than later to give it a clean out. Will likely do that after i get back from the Fingal trip...should have done a couple of thousand k's on this change...can never change oil too often eh.
Be good if one could get some pressure back through the radiator opposite direction to air flow, but just no room to do that like we could in years gone by...

Only gets the outside stuff, anything thats stuck in between is there to stay, I have even seen pics where after a good mud bash, its blocked things up between the coolers....... Thankfully I usually get stuck before I make a bigger mess.... but really who would really want to go mud running in a Grand, totally inadequate for that sort of FWDing.
My mesh screen is still covered in feathers from a pigeon I hit while away, thankfully the screen caught them all and even filtered them from getting into the air box, cleaned a lot off the screen but still heaps there, certainly would have been a big problem to get them off the front of the coolers..they would have gummed things up for sure.... I have to replace the lower mesh, not an easy job to do, drop front plates to get at from underneath, its still bluddy difficult.... big box of bandaids required.
