it wouldn't be a dicky thermo switch on the tranny oil line thats pushing your temps up, weve covered this before and it does cause drama if the valve fails.

Have considered that as part of the problem ,...but.....the engine revs/tacho lets me know the clutches are slipping.....no biggies....'salt mines' have me in the 'big smoke' soon enough and I'll get the tranny rebiult while Im there...oddly enough the shop sticker that serviced the tranny says due in 3k.....so 20k intervals.....when the trannys getting rebiult I'll have the thermo valve renewed as well, along with upgraded clutches in the torque converter....geez....its almost like biulding a drag car again....but not
As far as long idles for diesels go....had a 2 stroke GM that had to be running as a matter of necessity.
Every 4 hours 'open it up' was the instruction.
