Actually, in my previous WK2, same UHF as I have now being I pinched it out of the poor ole thing...the UHF unit itself was mounted under the centre console behind the gear selector, in front of the armrest storage bin.
The previous owner had picked up the power from the cigarette lighter plug inside the console...it was totally out of the way and a good idea too as the speaker of course is in the hand piece...

I was looking for quick and easy this time around .................. way back in the dark ages as the creek waters swirled around the floor rising fast I thankfully had my CB, big old SSB job on a slide rack on the tunnel so pulled it out before it drowned then got out of the creek getting a wet bum as the waters came up to the seats....

Hmmm, I know what rising creek waters feel like...lol...fortunately with that adventure the rising creek waters didn't get above the transmission tunnel so the UHF didn't get a bath...
(Totally digressing from topic re rising creek waters for those with a WK2...when on dry land, after opening the doors of course allowing the gallons of water to gush out of the car, the first thing I did was to slide seats forward and check for water in the compartments under the seats...I was paranoid about drowning electrics!
Even though there was at least a foot of water over the floor for I guess 3 - 4 minutes, the battery compartment was still dry, the passenger side had maybe half an inch of water in it. I had taken steps to ensure both lids sealed in case of water prior by adding some extra packing...)

Have wondered about that but have no intention of drowning mine, since I have been buying these things with carpet no more river crossings much prefer rubber flooring and the bungs removed................ no furr or carpet.
