I can see why you would need to go with an aluminium shark cage.

Those girls could probably chew through netting.

I was being lazy and thought id just show you before and after pics.
After cutting out the cage from the door,i drilled holes in the top of every second diamond and then secured narrow aluminium frame all the way round. The aluminium was shaped like this LI ( best i could do) with a channel that the cage fitted into nicely.
Then it was secured with bolts, every second diamond.
It was fairly neat and very strong and light weight.I only put the padding around the edges to tidy it up.

You beat me to it Buddha. I've got a sheet of screen door mesh out the back and a few lengths of alloy channel and am going to do exactly the same thing. I'm fitting mine behind the front seats though and attaching the bottom to a floor panel I put in when the back seats removed and the top to the rear overhead grab handle mounts.

The materials are actually left overs from a roof rack panel I've made in the same way to put a roof rack bag on top of. I just attached it to some Rola bars and it's perfect support for the bag. Much lighter than a basket and much easier to store when not needed.

When I get around to making it I'll do photos too and post the results.

Good job Buddha - can't wait to see it close up. I reckon it should keep those kids contained!

Cheers,
Rick

Just take it out for the annual rego check. AFAIK unless the thing has a compliance plate, the inspector won't pass it....

Nice job otherwise.
