I said ALMOST 2wd Princess, all the sand tracks up there can change in a day or 2, from almost 2wd access to tracked vehicles or hovercraft only, especially with the traffic they get, it only takes one dick who dosent air down to really chew up a sand track. The inland tracks arent anything like beach driving, they arent soaked down morning and night and do become extremely diffuclt without occasional rain.

Yeah you're right busy or BLOODY busy just such a great spot to go.

Thumbs up Rainbow

As a regular traveller to Rainbow Beach for many years may I suggest checking out the Parks and Wildlife site for info on Cooloola Nat Park, it has heaps of info. Inskip point has 2WD access, tar road all the way to the point where you will find the barges to Fraser, there are numerous camping grounds well sign posted, they are well and truly packed out in the holiday season, another great spot to go is Freshwater which is just back from the beach in Cooloola Nat Park there is also beach camping, access from Rainbow Beach via Double Island Point, Freshwater Track just before Rainbow or from Teewantin down near Noosa, I've towed a trailer in many a time and have had a few problems but nothing major if you are prepared. It's a great drive up from Teewantin bit soft getting onto the beach but always check the tides. I find the week after school holidays it's always quiet. Most important to check tides and get the Park info sheets if it's your first time as they have warning info for the areas. Snatch Strap, shovel and fresh water a must, also the beach has speed limits and you can be booked radars are around in peak times.

inskip is cool but fraser island and rainbow beach / double island point / noosa northshore kicks arse compared to inskip point

i have never had to put my TJ into 4X4 at all between rainbow and noosa even on freshwater track its all pretty easy driving i have even seen old commodores on those beaches (except maybe at high tide) and be careful of the rocks just south of the town of rainbow beach on an incoming tide they are very very very very dangerous go to the pub at rainbow beach and check out the pics of inexperienced idiots who lost their forby's on those rocks

i have had so much fun camping and fishing and sandboarding and driving my forby on those beaches

Yep, love Double Island and have camped the Freshwater campgrounds many a time, but do prefer to camp 5 kms before the turnoff and then just drive up to use the facilities.

Have had some hairy trips on the freshwater track to Rainbow when its busy with 10 car convoy's !!
