don't forget that the measurement of 33" is made with the tyre not actually fitted to a rim and vehicle.

Once you put it on a rim and compress it with the weight of the vehicle it drasticaly reduces the size of it. Especially if you have 15x10 rims as well.

Its the only way some brand of tyres actually come close to their reported measurements.
If thats the case, that measurement is not really a diameter as such, its more a 'major axis' of a ellipse

So in reality a Goodyear Wrangler MTR 33x12.5R15 is really a 31.5x11.6R15,, on a 15x8 rim,, excellent.

why are you so obsessed with that measuring tape? It's not a jeep thing, everyone is in the same boat. So your mates on 33's have the same issue... does it really matter?

Well the obsession with the with the tape comes from some traumatic childhood experiences.

No really, I just wanted measurements before and after the new lift to see the variation, then I took some more measurements as it did not look level once all the spings and things were in. As it turns out its down about an 1" on the drivers side, and the rear is 2" higher than the front, so i have a few adjustments to make with spacers. Now, I measured the tyre because my mate has a GQ Patrol with 285 75R16 and claimed that visually his tyres were taller than mine, so we put a tape over them to discover that he had 32.4" as opposed to my 31.5"
