My 2001 XJ or My 1998 XJ haven't got one Yeah the fords had one i think for city or h/way driving just holds the gear longer doesn't affect the engine power directly Would be nice to have esp in c/control on the h/way Slighest hill goes back into 3rd then slams into 2nd to catch up the 'cook' hates it and wont use it

Hi all,

had a '95 model with power switch, left it off as it used to anoy me when accelerating out of certain corners as it would annoyingly kick down a gear and lurch around the last part of the bend.
My '96 model does not have one, they altered the diff ratios and set the gearbox change points equivalent to the "power" setting. Does the same annoying kick down still, just on different (speed) corners. Come to think of it I haven't thought about it in about four years so must have gotten used to it and learnt to drive around the problem!
