sit and thought about the hoses and gaskets. i think i'll replace as many of them as i can and do everything right. i have a bit of oil leak under the car but i haven't traced it.
the gasket kit i found includes the head gasket, intake gasket, rocker cover gasket etc..
since i started asking questions... :
the abs light comes on after i drive 10-20m. i checked the sensors with a dmm and they have resistance (this means it's ok?). anyone know what can be wrong with the abs ?

AFAIK, all diesels = sport = no ABS.
Here though. Maybe different there.

I'm in the middle of this too (as I'm in the process of changing the cam followers). If you find out what size socket the injectors take please let me know..

Theres a water hose under/behind the airbox I found to have been almost rubbed through, going to replace that one too.. its kinda just to the left of the turbo (when standing looking in) and under the intake tubes.

The heads are finally off.
The pacient in the incensive care unit :

The nut that caused trouble is the one behind the manifold

Manifold removed :

About 10 hrs of work total to get them off. Didn't seem like such a tough job.
I removed the injectors with a 28mm ring spanner

Good thing all the nuts I had to remove were made out of stainless and it didn't take much to undo them
