I am approaching 290k (bought it second hand of original owner with log books) and it has never had any major work done.

Kyro.....what do you mean the head was 'soft' how did you notice that? Was it getting other work done at the time? The only complaint I have with the jeep at the moment is that there appears to be a little throttle lag. I think a aftermarket exhaust may help that.

well there was green water running around the head gasket so thought it was just a gasket but it was in fact the welsh plug leaking but they found that after the removal of the heads and found the gasket had pushed in to the heads and then found other things like bent rockers or rods or something cant remember now was long time ago

I fooked mine good. Palla has video!!!
Drowned it. Though the diagnosis was it was fairly abused beforehand.
Just passed 101k, which is ~25k on new engine. A/C is US, Intercooler pipes leak and there is a persistent oil seepage.

Good or Bad list?

Question

G'Day All

129k and no problems so far.

I'm new to the world of Jeep having just bought my first XJ diesel. This tread looks interesting and could help me decide to sell or keep. I would like to keep as I've wanted a diesel for years, one of the main reasons is that they are supposed to last longer...hmmm. But the car is immaculate & has never done any serious off-road work. However I have been forewarned to sell now before it’s too late! Perhaps a bit alarmist but it would be better to sell before I 'pimp my Jeep' with loads off-road goodies. At the moment 5 goods (incl mine) to 2 bads - but will wait and see. Does anybody know how many oil burners are in the forum?
