Roachy with out wanting to get flamed i have seen/ driven a few different WG's with Quadra Drive and they Don't always Lock.... I agree that QD is great but i would Not personaly put it on the same level as a Locked Diff.. I have been in a bogged WG QD and it was crossed up and Not getting any power to the wheel with traction..

If a Locker of any sort Air or Cabel was fitted it would of got the Grand out of this particular bog..

Just my 0.02c

I know of a few Quadradrive's that haven't locked as well, but I personally think that this is because the fluids in the diffs wasn't correct. If you don't run the right diff oil (and correct ratio of friction modifier which is critical) they don't work properly. I guess it is a question about the activation. Once the Quadradrive is fully activated it works exactly like a locker.

oh and I would think that apart from getting the fluid ratios right etc, if you had a leaking diff or axle seal this might cause a problem too as the system might not be able to build up the hydraulic pressure that is need to activate

I've got an OX Locker (cable selector)in my front Dana 30 and had a Detroit TrueTrac in it before that (which I still have for sale if anyone is interested!!!) and I've got an Aussie Locker in my Dana 44A...

Didn't cost me a whole lot to get locked front and rear and I sure didn't have to swap axles!!

You've gotta take the time to get the initial set up with the cable right...and then it's good to go.
