After what you and Elmo have been through together how could you think of getting rid of him?!? (or at least wait until I can save up ;) )

Seriously, I'd go the trailer option too!

Ditto on the trailer, i just built a small offroader to put the fridges in and to carry a few jerrys of fuel and water leaves heaps of room. I hardly even know its there, the xj puls it easily. Then leave it when u dont need it.
Cheers,
N.T.

You could do simular to this to the XJ, or the trailer. I have the KJ which has less room than the XJ and we used to get the three (teenage) kids in and heaps of stuff in the trailer for camping etc, now the kids have grown out of house it is rarely we use the trailer now.
A well built FSJ is a great option also, but will cost ya heaps to build and run, I don,t see many for sale that aren't full of rust or need heaps of work just to get them to an acceptable standard.
Just my opinion.

Keep the xj & get a trailer. Buying anything in that price bracket is gonna be tired with high k's & need money spent before any mods, or at least any mods you do will break tired old bits.
You know your xj inside out & pumped heaps of time & effort into building a top unit.
We tow a camper & have heaps of space for the 4 of us, but a trailer is just as good.
Just my 2 cents.
