Are they 8" or 7" and how far do they stick out of the guards?

Haha, thanks Dom

XJKEEEEEEEEE they are 7" rims, and they don't stick out the guards at all. The issue is that under compression they will touch on the inner guard section - i.e. that bit of plastic shaped like the outer guard that sits on the inside. If I removed the flares altogether, then they would not scrub.

Ok

I have 31's but on stock rims at the moment and yes your rear wheel looks like it sits back further. I don't have any rubbing issues there.
Also looking to go to a better offset rim so reason for question about sticking out past the guards.

I think it might sit back further, it isn't centred. I have 2" lift blocks in the rear, and I think my leaves may be worn.

If the wheel was centred, I don't think it would rub at the rear of the guard, but I could only confirm that if mine was centred. The 4" back space with a 9.5" tyre gives me more space between the inner section of the guard and the tyre so I think I would have more upward clearance than with the stock back spacing.

Here is another pic of the rear wheel - any comments on the position (should it be centred, or does this look normal)?

still looks a little out of centre to me . this is my xj ltd with 31x10.5x15" tyres on grand cherokee rims.equal gap front and back.even when the tyre is stuffed up under the guard as far as bumpstops allow there is enough room to put your hand in there(if you wanted to for some reason).
