I don't know how many times I've mentioned this, but I went through all this window reg crap a little while ago and I found www.electriclife.com.au (speak to Shaun) to be the best place to source one.

They do reconditioned ones, they'll recon yours if you get it too them for about $170, and they can sell a complete new aftermarket reinforced one for half the price of a new Jeep one.

The way Jeep designed the window regs, it's inevitable that they are going to break one day. So it doesn't make sense too me to put the exact same design back in there only to have it break again one day. The metal cable blocks from pocket logger (as you mentioned) and the aftermarket (Italian designed and built) window reg from Electric Life are the only 2 ways I know of that actually improves the Jeep design to make sure it never happens again.

Also I just remembered, someone else on this forum also had a window reg die on them recently and managed to fashion up a fix himself. If you do a search I'm sure you'll find it and I think he showed pics as well of what he did. So you could check that out and maybe you can do the same to yours...

All the best.

Hi Turismo07,

Yes, did a search before I posted this initial thread, found your thread and sent off an email to electriclife (even though their website was under construction). Appreciate you putting that information out there.

What through me was when the guy in the dealership who told me that the CRD had a different window regulator than the petrol.... could find any info on this in the site, but I can take it from peoples opionions that they are the same...

Will progress further on Monday...dont wont this to burn into my holiday time too much though

Cheers
Chumby.

My ZG had that problem but all I had to do was pull the door skin off and I unplugged everything I could find cleaned it up and all was good, I think it didn't like all the wet weather and cold. I did have horrible thoughts that things had blown and Canberra in July is not the place to be with a buggered window.

I have a copy of the 2007 parts list for a WK and it lists no different regulator for CRDs, only a pre and post 12 Feb 2007 type....

Hi all,

Window working all good again.

In the end purchased the new "AD" model from dealership - $300 (12 months/20,000k warranty). The older style "AC" version was approx $700. (figure that out...)

In the new model, the entire "arm" of the regulator is plastic and the wires come through the entire arm, not just the plastic block that has given troubles. According to the dealer the new model is suppose to be a much more improved version....

Best I could do second hand was $200 shipped - from Poly4*4 ,so I thought hang it go for the new...(Poly were great though.... definately talk to them again!!!)

Cheers,
Chumby
