Wheels Flying off on the Hwy is a little more of a worry that a lift thats 30mm over size...

Get off set rims, Extend fenders so tyre/rim stay with in the Flares and you'll be sweet - or Accept the fact that you own a Grand Chero in Australia and deal with smaller tyres... Spacers Are not worth the Risk if they are going to be used Everyday or on the Black Top- Heaps of peeps get away with it- Lots don't aswell

Do it once, Do it Right!!!

Good luck

The thing is an incorrectly fitted rim can come off too.
Ive seen many examples where nuts have been fitted backwards, mag nuts used on steel rims & vice/versa.
A properly fitted/tensioned spacer is no more dangerous than a mirriad other things on a motor vehicle, its got more to do with how its done.
Btw ,the reason that its illegal to change track more than 26mm is because the load on the wheel bearing is no longer centred which can lead to premature failure.

I had spacers on a trailer so I could run the zj wheels as a spare and pulled up with a noise, found 3 studs missing and the last two half sheared off.I think part of the problem was the fact that I had a piece of aluminium sandwhiched between two steel objects with different expansions. If you do it check the nut tension regularly.

Some vehicles come with them standard so as long as your fitting quality ones I dont see a problem. I use them as with the OME shocks and 245/75/ 16's I get serious rubbing when the swaybars are disconnected. Up to you mate, its your money and insurance. By the way, I use a torque wrench on all my vehicles - rattle gun = no no. 80 ft/lbs on WJ with 1/2 inch studs.

For those that are interested, here is a good thread regarding spacers vs. backspacing.
