tyre pressure is also extremely important......if I didnt had the Full Traction 4" ultimate suspemsion lift I would have gone for AEV lift perfectly suits Australian conditions and their quality is A++++++ they use the same Blsiten shocks which Full Traction does but I think AEV rated coils are the best in the market compared to other suspension lift brands I will move to King Coil Overs my next project.

there shouldnt be a need to raise the car to fix this problem a shocker upgrade should take care of it .

contact a suspension company like efs or go to an arb store and make sure you talk to them and tell them your intended use of the vehicle the wieght you carry and the problems you have encountered so far they will have a shock to suit your driving application , corrugations are extremely hard on shocks and you will find if you drive those surfaces alot you will wear out shocker quickly . probably pay to change the steering dampener aswell .

definatley talk to a specialist though so you get the right shocker for your application as if you get the wrong one you will be in the sam boat as you are now . and if you think the people you are talking to dont have a clue leave and go somewhere else that does know what they are doing .

That's the first time i've heard someone say leaf springs are better handling than coils! I'll give you that they can be set up to carry greater weight but by design they do not allow the suspension to soak up corrugations in the road surface and will have you skipping around far quicker than a coil set up. Speed was the problem here greater control of the ride gave your friend the confidence to go faster than conditions allowed i guarantee he would have been going slower in the leaf sprung truck he used to have. Trouble with outback roads is the conditions can alter very quickly with traffic and weather so 90kmh might have been ok last time but not ok the next time.

totally agree. anyone who has spent time in the old hard leaf spring trucks will agree that coils are much better. if you roll the truck on corrugations you are driving too fast. i think your mate is trying to blame the springs for his own driving mistake unfortunately.

Thanks for the comments folks... I guess my thoughts are:
1 - sounds like the AEV suspension is the go, although OME gets a good rap too... Something adjustable from the cabin would be nice.... !!
2 - Lower tire pressures definately the go
3 - Load doesn't make much difference - had 4 folks and luggage at the weekend and it still got skitish. I reckon the stock shocks/springs have gotta go for more touring stuff...
