I'll have to try to dig out my old maps from the trip. I just remember skating down that track for a few km (kind of nervous as I'd led a whole convoy of Jeeps down, and there wasn't enough traction to get back up), only to get to the bottom and find a locked gate. Turned out the chain was only looped over the gate post; after we drove through, we found ourselves in the middle of a few hundred people camping - obviously a pretty popular spot - kids and minibikes everywhere. That last bit of the track was a good test of skill and nerves - anyone steering up the hill got sideways and had to be fended off the gatepost - if you steered straight, you got through OK.

Yep, that's the Otways for ya.Say a few hail Mary's and then start driving down the hill.

I can't say I can recall at this moment any camping spots like that, but I'm sure between my dad and I we will come up with a few ideas on the location.Any idea what the sign up the hill said

Ok, have just discussed the pic with dad and we are pretty confident we know the spot.

We think it's the back way into Stevensons Falls, just down the road from Barramunga. At the start of the track you would have come to a fork in the track. One track (the track you took) goes straight ahead and the other (the main track) does a sharp hairpin turn to the right and through a gate. The track you took would have taken you through alot of pines (if there were any there then) and the track itself would have steep, rutted and loads of yellow clay on it.In the pic you provided the track goes down to a gate, there should be a creek on the left of the track and a bridge on the left also but on another track that leads into the camping ground.

There would also be toilets to the right and another main track going straight ahead to another bridge. This is a very, very popular camping spot.Lots of yobbos go there unfortunatley.

This spot is near Forrest.
