according to some US forums, optima batteries have turned to $hit quality wise after being taken over by new owners. seems the general consensus in the US are Odyssey batteries are the real deal.

I had a twin battery set up in my Landcruiser. found it to be handy if you had to run a winch for a long time or a fridge and was very thankful once when went to start up one morning after spending the night in the middle of nowhere and the batery on line was flat. switched to the other one and it started up with great relief from me.

it had a battery isolator manual switch so you could run on battery "A" one week and then battery "B" the other or both batteries if you desired. the switch was a designed for marine use, but it was a pain as it packed up a couple of times. cheap Taiwanese excrement so make sure you get a good one. the other problem was that the landcruiser being a diesel it use to eat batteries. they would only last about two and a bit years, so every year always seem to be changing one of the batteries. tried all the different conventional type brands and found that besco lasted the longest as far as water acid batteries go

personally I wouldnt go the twin battery set up again

Biggest problem is the brake booster. Small cranking battery will go here nicely.
you can fit a d34 optima here on its side with a little mod, just need to lower the mount down some. i did it on my old tj, the only big drama was i had to pull the fender off to install/remove the battery.

the mean green kit will fit right hand tj, there are several members running them.

I put mine behind the back seat in a black box with the anderson plugs on the top - gives you 2 plugs in the car direct

takes up a little bit of space but you live with it

mate i just finished doing mine, i fitted a 120 amp/hr on the drivers side of the engine. the reason i could do this is cause i'm in the process of making a custom snorkle and air box cause i used the room for the battery tray. although with a little stuffing around the standard air box could still be used. only just wired it up last night, i could post some pics if ya want?
