ive been to wilbinga both sat and sun. Last time i went before that was about 5 months ago. Since then, beaches have been washed away and land owners have been busy clearing km's of land to build fallen tree/bush/shrub walls blocking off most tracks. You can still get thru to many places and beach entrances if you take some inland tracks but where the inland tracks have been blocked you just have to be a bit sneaky and find the less beaten tracks with a bit of re-growth on them, expect some bush pin-stripes. I dont think re-opening these potentially rehabilitaion tracks is a big environmental issue as 100m away is entire areas of cleared land for the purpose of building property border walls. Clearing this land destroys all vegetation and kills every creature in the vacinity weather it be cute and cudly or not. And why would property owners want to stop 4wds? probably cos they might run over a seedling trying to grow, as opposed to that bull dozer they just ran right thru the bush. I dont think the government should have the right to sell off coastal land like that anyway, if you're australian, its your land to enjoy. But dont take that the wrong way tho, im all for responsible 4wding. If there is a sand track, take the track, dont make your own thru the bush. Lets try to keep the environment in tact, rather than destroy it like these property owners have.
edit: yes im aware i live in a house that sits on land that once used to be bush.
