They won't take the car back, they don't give loan vehicles (that's up to the dealer) and i had to argue with them for an hour and a half yesterday to get them to have another look at it. The 2 nearest dealers besides mine are 300km each way and i haven't herd good things about them ether. When the problem first came up in 2009 the dealer replaced a wheel speed sensor and cleared the computer but as the problem happens so rearly it's hard to test

The problem you have sounds very odd, so it would be hard for the dealer to work out exactly what is causing the fault. The symptoms you mention also do not make it sound like it is one particular component at fault.

You mention it feels like the ABS is operating when the condition occurs - what do you feel through the pedal?

If you get it on a gravel road and jump on the brakes at say 40kmph is it the same sensation that you are feeling when the condition occurs?

ABS will slow the vehicle - is it slowing when the condition occurs, or is it as though the brakes are not working at all?

The metal to metal sound - can you tell where it is coming from (front or rear, and which corner)?

the more you can document the problems that you are experiencing, the more likely it is that a mechanic will find the fault. Perhaps they are looking at the braking system when the fault is elsewhere.

Wasn't there a thread a while ago about a issue where the wheel speed sensors where positioned incorrectly due to a faulty bracket on some cars?

Hey ooz, yeah i feel it through the pedal, the pedal pushes back hard agaist my foot. The same thing happens when the ABS comes on on a dirt road like you said but no where near as harsh, the same grinding sound happens too when the ABS comes on but onces again no where near as lond. the jeep dose not seem to slow down at all ether it's like it is releasing all 4 brake calipers at once. When the dealers hook the there computer there are know faults recorded.
Your right when you say it's a hard one to find the fault and it sounds like it has not happened to anyone else yet ether
