hi y'al

I just got a used a standard ARB OME 2" lift kit from one of the boyz around the traps who just upgraded. I was going to replace the rear springs with a pair of new 2" lift Kings springs that i was going to ge off Loric.

Any body see any major problems i might come across. If it ends up costing more than i already told/quoted the misses i will be playing suck up until her birthday(july).. And i am a bad suck up..

one thing to watch out for is that the springs for the front are different for petrol and diesel models because the diesel engine is a lot heavier.

Did the previous owner have the same setup as your KJ? Diesel/Barwork/winch etc....?

The front struts and springs come in different flavours depending on your load. 375mm 450lb std 2"lift, 395mm 465lb crdstu hd version and 500lb rate for the winch+diesel+bar combo.
The rear springs come in 947 2"lift, 948 2"tow lift and Stu's 948+10mm 3"+ version.
The rear dampers are N132 and N132L.

You will also want/need a rear bumpstop. 35mm or so.

Also watch your rear brakeline to ensure adequate length is there, otherwise it would break when you go to full extension.

Nah it came of the same spec kj. Basically a stock petrol. As far as i am aware it's your standard ome 375mm 2". I'm not running anything other than a nudge bar and don't plan to upgrade that so weight isn't going to be an issue. I won't be towing besides light a trailer to bunnings every now and then and maybe the occasional camper but nothing long distance... At this stage..

I just need a decent weekender and my current set up is crapolla! Plus i can hear the current rear shocks (stock) creek when i get out of the car, so i figure their pretty tired.

I have read about the bump stops before but i only thought they were an issue if you go above 2"? I didn't really think about the break line, so thanks for the heads up on that one loric.

Default Very Confused

Hi all
I have just joined this forum and you guys are all definately the "Brains Trust" to come too for assistance

After a recent trip away with some mates in their "Bits r Missin's" I came away with this huge wish list of things I needed to do to my Jeep. I do need to say that my stock 2007 CRD Cherokee went up and over every rocky trail and hill that these modified nissan went, so I was extremely happy.

Anyway what I wanted some advice on was lift kits for the CRD Cherokee, the only thing that I was dissapointed on when I was away was the clearance.

There seem to be so many different lift kits and these shockies and those springs, so on and so on. In laymen's speak what is a good kit which will lift my Jeep 2" to 3" higher and where is the best place to get it from?

I am hoping for the Rolls Royce on a Mini Budget model here guys but do not wan't to skimp on safety.

All advice will be welcomed.

Cheers for now
Gavin

Gavin, I also have a 07 CRD and a recent lift. I would suggest you contact the KJ lift guru (CRDSTU), who together with King Springs has developed a set of spring lifts for the KJ CRD. The CRD is heavier in the front than a petrol KJ so it requires a heavier rate spring. Stu has different spring combinations depending upon what you are going to do with the vehicle. For example, if your putting an ARB bar on the front it will require a different spring set than if your going to run a nudge bar. I will PM you the contact details for Stu. Stu runs his own aftermarket product business and has a great reputation with many KJ owners.

Also, get yourself the Mopar protection plates. Your CRD would have come with the front engine/Diff guard. The others are the transfer case guard, the transmission plate, and the fuel tank guard. Of those the transmission plate and transfer case ones are probably the priority, especially with the CRD oil filter hanging down as it does (transmission plate protects that). The Mopar plates were being run out recently but you may find some still left at some dealers. You can try Leo Mullens online store/; http://estore.chryslerjeep.com.au/in...cPath=40_47_69

Good Luck

Something I found in Wikipedia. It may give an idea as to what to expect from a lift, tyre size and whether they will rub or not. May or may not reflect experience here.
