I reckon my engine will need a rebuild very soon. It has a horrible knocking noise at idle and slight shudder on take off. The noise dampens when it is in gear. I can't see any cracking on the flex plate. I though that possibly may be the problem. I am tending towards piston slap or conrod bearing. The noise is coming from the back of the engine. My engine has only done 224k. Hmmm....not good. It drives fine otherwise.

Is it worse when hot?
Oil pressure down when hot?
Piston slap will give plenty of blow by.
You probably know all that !

Worse when hot, oil pressure is no change. No blowby or using coolant or oil. It stops on slight throttle load or in gear. It has been shuddering in reverse I noticed. I'm also thinking it maybe could be the torque converter. My engine and tranny mounts are all good so it's not vibration related.

Rastus, ya silly bugger. You locked the door. The two little German men are knocking to get out.

Sounds to me like a spun big end.
Rotten sound though, eh.

Cheers
