I'm tending towards the flex plate myelf. I'm going to get stuck into it tomorrow. It's not the cat. I've already checked that out. Thanks mate.

Yerr on an old Opel engine I killed the big ends once and it didn't sound as anywhere near as rattly as yours and I wrecked all four.

I dont wanna start a new thread for this.

Alright brains trust....
Has anyone actually tried to get an A650e into an xj chero?
1st gears ratio makes me ask this (3.36 vs 2.80)
Also the same length plus an extra gear
I can only see output shaft being an issue (26 spline. Aw4 is 23)
Also something to control the box i havent looked into

Anyone?
Or is it just too late (early) and my brain wont turn off?

Interesting. I wonder if the tail housings bolt up the same. ? Not as much a problem as the spline count. Though I wonder if output shafts interchange?. Probably not, being so far between models.

Hmmm.

from what i can tell, the rear housings are the same.
i actually have that trans in my lexus
So i could do some measuring
it seems the control of the trans is why it hasn't been done, after hours of research.
