But yeah, the short list I mentioned in the beginning without having any more info, actually still stands and others have mentioned them too: the CPS and CAM sensor (JJ will state they are both sometimes referred to as CPS, which is correct, and to makes things even more fun: they can give the same symptoms when failing. Other member has already given some practical advice on how to test these.

But CPS and CAM sensor are very common culprits, in fact they will fail at some point during their life in the 4.0. Not if, but when.

how much is the cam sensor to replace?

how can i be sure it wasnt just vapor lock?

As I mentioned in your other thread you need to know which variant OBD2 Xj you have, it affects the prices of the sensors, the Cam Position sensor (CPS - Roler) is the same in either variant but the Crank Position Sensor ( ) is different in the plug, check the injector's electrical connector, if it has the squeeze tabs to release the connector that'll mean that it uses the dearer OBD2 sensors....

MSD coil is probably the issue. From all accounts I have read they are shit and fail within a few months.
