This may sound left field, have you tried it with a higher rated thermostat or a restrictor? Reason being if the water is passing through the radiator too quickly, it may not be get enough cooling. The XJ radiators are pretty small as it is, and they're parked behind the A/C evaporator and the trans cooler radiator as well!

Changed spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor, CAS, coil, air filter, engine oil, diff oils, new front shocks and greased the slip yoke. *Might* go like new after this...

Fitted my "new to me" exhaust today including extractors - 2.5" pipe all the way to the diff with a smaller tail section, only drama is it is too close to my airbags and my long range tank and my leafs.....
I think I will get a new tail pipe made up that suits my Xj properly, so far it sounds great but I havent driven it yet so I am hoping it won't drone....

Find out soon.....

Got my aircond fixed again today as I broke a line when I was installing the snorkel (refitting airbox). Pretty happy now as they rerouted it properly to account for the intake going to the rear of the airbox instead of the front.

Gave my old flares away to a young fella with a 6" lifted Zuk (Vitara) with 31" claws. Reckon they will look good when fitted.

Are you still running the viscous fan or electric? Why were you running the A/C also as you are introducing even more hot air through the engine radiator? The A/C fan will be on regardless as soon as you are over 105.
I actually got rid of my 3 core radiator as did not perform well in slow speeds as too much restriction to the air flow and can sometime actually start heating up the last core more rather than cooling it down.
What size tyre/diff ratio too as found re-gearing speed up the water pump and helped the auto not being so much under load. A separate cooler for the auto, not in front of the radiator otherwise just as bad as running the A/C when too hot, will help the engine temperature too.
