If we didn’t love Jeep’s and all their ‘characteristics’, we would buy Mazda BT50’s drive them trouble free for 5 to 7 years and then throw them in the bin. Unlike new cars, old Jeep’s can be fixed.

Yeah at least you can get a good story out of a Disaster Day .. I couldn't get it out of my head and the anxiety of worrying if the wheels will fit or the nuts are the wrong size What a drama having to send it back!
With what has happened and knowing my luck Talk about XJ Anxiety
96 was out the back today so I pulled the front wheel off and did a test fit Everything Fits Driving myself Nutty over nothing
I am kicking myself as I did not change the plugs months ago when I had it in bits Oh Well
And you are right Alex it does take a while to sort them out The 96 took a few years of Anxiety Just a bit of déjà vu I suppose.
The exhaust bits will be here next week so I will fix the work I am yet to pay for?
This thread is good therapy Thanks for reading

At least the Jeep will still let you drive it home even when it’s not doing too well. I had an Audi which started throwing codes, alarms, flashing lights ect... and then going into limp mode as I was crossing a long bridge. Got to the other side with 10,000 angry Israelites on my tail and managed to pull over whereby it stopped the engine and I noticed the temp gauge reading 20 million C°. Fearing the worst I called RACQ and two hours later in 37° heat got it towed to Audi. Turns out is was just a failed $5 temperature sensor that they only charged me $250 for. Chap across the road took his new Dodge Ram and caravan to Tasmania (from Townsville) last November. It is still there. He and his wife flew back home a couple weeks ago. Failed steering / abs sensor two weeks after to got to Tassie and there is a Worldwide shortage. He even rang some Dodge dealers in the US and one said they would put him on the waiting list for a sensor - he was number 784 in line on the list.

It's always After you commit to something the Truth is Revealed!
Shit! The only Champion RC12LYC plugs I could find online were through Repco .. So I bought them last Thursday .. They are taking their time to dispatch my order Today on a US site I found this "Page from the Holy Book" ... Shit I bought the Wrong Plugs?
So I put the Wrong Plugs in the 99 years ago?
I never looked and still haven't looked at the sticker in the engine bay (Famous Last Words) I just Assumed? They were Champion RC12LYC like the 96 runs?
NO! No no They are Champion RC12ECC ... And they were hard to find So I gave up and got some NGK ZFR5N They were everywhere .
What a waste of Time & $ But at least I can keep the Champion RC12LYC for the 96 it has about 5000k on its plugs

I think it has had others scratching their heads too...

https://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1082406

I believe the specs are identical except for the ECC being double copper.

Cheers,

maybe not, according to this (now deleted) excerpt from Wikipedia I captured a few years ago, still gives me a good laugh, the original writer has flair, he builds things up

"The Mazda BT-50 (model code J97M) is a compact/mid-sized pickup truck produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mazda since 2006. It is a larger version of the predecessor B-Series pickup. Until 2011, Ford had also sold a version of the first-generation BT-50 as the Ford Ranger and as the SUV Ford Everest. From 2011 the second-generation Ranger has been designed by Ford Australia, with a Mazda derivative sold as the BT-50. It was withdrawn from sale in the Japanese and North American markets after safety and reliability issues with melting parts resulted in the unfortunate monicker “Thermo”.

The BT50 continues to be sold to unsuspecting buyers in Australia. Serious and terminal reliability issues continue to develop in the transmission, diesel engine, brakes, cooling system, fuel injection, emission control, electronic engine control, steering, seatbelts, towing system, dashboard instrumentation, windscreen washers and headlights. At its nadir in 2017, no BT50 could drive more than 100 metres without at least one door falling off. The sight of a hapless driver clinging desperately to the steering wheel of a (barely) moving vehicle with one hand while trying to reattach the driver’s door with the other, while passengers run behind picking up ejected engine parts, has become common.

In October 2017, Mazda made the strategic decision to wash its hands of the model. While still continuing to sell new vehicles, all pretense of customer service and repair responsibility was discarded. Dealers were directed to treat victims (previously known as customers) with scorn and derision, milking them for as much cash as possible while pretending to make repairs using rusty old parts scrounged from lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners and abandoned farm equipment. This required no change for the dealers, who had been using these techniques since mid 2009. "
