Yes there is a version for the JK VM engine variant.
Cheers mate, I don't want the extra power, torque and injection timing changes that come with the tune. If they left everything else stock and just disabled the egr like you say, I would consider it for sure.

Can I ask why not? Not being cheeky, just curious.

The extra power and torque is only there if you stick your boot in. Drive it gently and it's not that much different to normal. The timing changes make it more drivable as well as it lessens the lag at take off quite a bit. I'm also getting at least 1l/100km better fuel economy to boot so it'll pay for itself in about 1.5-2 year with the km's I'm doing. I'm not saying it's right for everyone but it's been win, win, win for me.

Geez, sounds like you got told by this knowledgeable AJOR member to put it back to normal or else. If you did receive an economy improvement why wouldn't you keep it that way?

I just wish I'd done it years ago.

Not quite matey. He simply took time out of his day to discuss his findings with the same experiments and also say how the egr is integrated into the engine design from the ground up. I did a little research myself too and basically VM Motori know what they are doing better than I do. Including angle of crank when injection occurs with and without egr.

For example to quote VM "In particular, the 1600 bar Common Rail injection system has been equipped with electric piezo injectors which guarantee perfect management of the injection parameters by allowing up to 5 consecutive injections at 230 microsecond intervals" http://www.vmmotori.it/en/01/00/01/dettaglio.jsp?id=56

I like the idea of the GDE tune (i'd love to have a test drive to compare) but I have done no research into it. I am worried whether they can get the injection as precise as VM. I would love to have it to eliminate the egr but don't need more power. If they just did the egr delete and kept all the VM timing I would be interested, when I have the cash.

The egr and butterfly delete exercise I did was free but after my chat and research I was not sure it would pose no harm to my engine. I want to keep it for the next ten years so do want a solution to the egr.

Others may be happy doing the egr delete like I tried and as I said, I have not researched the GDE tune as yet.

I would imagine that egr allows engine to warm up faster and also allows VM Motari to sell their engines to major countries due to EURO specs and the rest of the eco friendly pro's that egr has to it. Not to mention the pcv re circulation system as well.
