so I grinded them down flush with the rail,
also noticed the holes where the tow bar mounts the holes are out of shape and have been bent down, tapped them level with the hammer, the bracket still dosent line up, to me it looks like the sub frame is bent down at the rear, could explain the brand new tow bar it???

and I noticed this nice crack in the sub frame under the old tow bar, just keeps becoming more and more work, beginning to think it will never see the road

in the pic you can see 2 cracks and on the other side of the car its cracked around the bolt holes like the smaller crack at the bottom of the pic
Looks like its had a bit of load in the towbar at some stage, maybe a boat into salty water to help with corrosion to set the crack going.

Removed the intake resonator today and discovered a little surprise jammed into the airbox pipe:

Left it out because as far as I know they are useless, so if anyone wants it let me know.

Default What did you do to your XJ today ?

I got a pair for nothing for a VE commodore we had. I noticed a 1l/100km gain. Was considering trying them in the WH.

On an XJ note it rained lots last few days.

Sweet thanks Mate,
I might get the full set front to back, but then I will need to modify the bumper brackets as they bolt to the chassis rail then up to the old bumper mounts in one piece

buy looking at it I think it may have been towing something heavy and in an accident and the old tow bar may have been bent and cracked, which may explain the new tow bar??

looking at it more this afternoon the whole back of the car is bent and need some serious work, got a panel beater coming to have a look at it next week.

with all the cracks and bends I wouldnt feel safe towing with, having a 33" tyre hanging off it or using the rear recovery point. but due to the bends the new bumper mounts don't fit

might take the bloody thing to the scrap yard
