Good to see you're enjoying the new lift Paul, thanks for the kudos.

Here's a little side project I've been working on over the past few weeks between jobs. Significantly modified ARB Bar for the wife's WH. Still need to work in the PDC sensors being a LTD but we'll get around to that......one day!

There's also another customers' JK I'm working on.
Any chance you can share the specs of the JK next to the grand?

Looks like Paul had alot of fun @ Rainbow. Just got back from Rainbow and Fraser Island myself a few weeks ago, I was really impressed with the way my WH CRD handled the soft sand as it was very hard going on Fraser and I only have a 40mm lift fitted, but I still managed to bottom out the front end damaging the plastic gaurd covering the power steering hoses. Have since purchased new guards from CRDSTU (Thanks) to solve future issues. On the return trip home from Rainbow Beach towing my caravan I notced a growling noise eminating from the gearbox location, fearing the worst (gearbox/centre diff) the problem has been since traced to the front drive shaft being worn out (CV Joints). Total repair cost = $2000 and no parts in Aust, 2 weeks to repair. Car has only 86000 km on the speedo so I would not expect the wear that is has so soon, but better for people to know about potential problems than not.
Thanks for reading, regards Mike.

I know this is not the thread for this, but I was suprised to read that a WH has CV drive shafts and not uni joints. I'm sure you can get the part from the US (as long as the CRD uses the same shaft as the V. It will be around $400 to $600 I'd expect plus shipping. Make sure you say it's a WK though, not a WH. Maybe try Tom Woods. I'd also suggest starting a new thread as someone may know where to get one. Also try wreckers.

I had my front shaft replcaed at 75000k's and that one lasted till 88000 and was replaced under new part warranty, so i hope this one lasts a bit longer.

My bill was only $1000 for the first shaft, so $2000 seems a bit steep.

I forgot to mention - it could have been caused by hitting a sand mound somehow and getting sand into the CV's. Is the boot still tight and undamaged?

Thanks for the feedback, I think the shaft was damaged when we bottomed out the front end in the sand. I have experienced a lot worse in my old Prado and had no issues this might be a weak point?? The quote to repair is from Leo Muller as I took the car to another 4WD specialist and they said it could be a centre diff problem??? At least I will have some warranty on this repair.
