While we're at it..... i got my new 285/70r17 KM2's back from the tyre joint at 42psi... this is a bit ridiculous isn't it???? I have a JK unlimited with front bar.... i lowered them to 38psi and noticed on the freeway bit of vibration... please excuse me im a newb to all this...do i need to get them balanced again at lower pressure and what is optimum for road...???? drop them to 32 and you will find it alot better

That happened to me, they set the balance at 42psi, i lowered it to 32 and had alot of vibrations, went back and asked them to re balance at 32 and all went good

Ive come to the conclusion that tyre fitter see big tyres and think it needs higher pressure, unlike trucks, which carry very heavy loads on their tyres, we are a car, taller, a little heavier, but not to the extreme to have basket balls as wheels!!! The high psi will wear the centres quicker and the ride will feel like you are travelling on a basket ball. Im on 33's and on 32 psi rides like my lancer, a little harsher due to the firmer suspension set up, but thats only obvious.
Also, tyre fitters usually drive sedans and std rides like that, or even lowered jap crap....

Yeh, I used to get the same thing after every service (though the tyre place I use is generally OK). Get the car back and it feels like it's running on solid rubber tyres. Check the pressure.....40psi. Drop it back to 32psi and all good.
