Not the before mentioned IAC, TPS, MAF, CAS, CPS, O2 as i swapped them and it does the same thing.

i pulled each injector to see if there is a lazy one but they seem OK

might run a multimeter over the leads to be sure they're good but i did this not long ago and also put new plugs in.

could be injectors leaking, ive never done anything to them since ive had the car.

pulled the CTS and the fan came on straight away so that seems to be working

there's a little bit of wobble in the distributor shaft

the rotors a bit worn

any ideas, experience this before anyone?

If you replace your rotor/cap/plug leads, you have at least ticked the tune-up box..

Where did you buy your engine management sensors?
Aftermarket sensors are notorious for being faulty out of the box, in which case you'll be under the impression you fixed a possible cause and you actually haven't yet...

Besides my previous reply, I just thought of something I had done when I had a rough idle (and idle only). Although I replaced the MAP sensor at the same time, what I did was spray throttle body cleaner (not carb cleaner) into the throttle with engine running (small sprays otherwise you'll choke it). Cleared the issue up. Seen on the internet that small mounts of water while the engine is running sort the same effect (decarbonising). Pretty simple and free, might solve your idle issue.

EDIT: works best with a good warmed up engine, like after a long drive.

Forgot to mention the battery is a new d34 ultima yellow top

All sensors are good second hand ones i will discount them being at fault for now as the problem is the same before and after changing.

tune up may be the way to go plus clean throttle body, as there is a little wobble in the distributor and the rotor is old. ill swap in a spare. idle has a jumpy, rough feel at the traffic lights. There is almost a rhythm to it. the rev needle stays stationary.

thanks for the help, shall see how i go.

So the O2 sensor that you fitted was secondhand? This is the one sensor that does wear out progressively, the others will just tend to fail.
Replace the O2 sensor with a new one, perform a PCM reset and sort out the dissy, there is nothing to "tune" in these (apart from correct plug gaps), just get everything up to scratch...
