Jj, it's a OBD2 1996 model.
Our blue, pre-update 97 is still here. The harness in that doesn't seem so bad. A couple of broken connectors. A little butchering, here and there.
I'll have another good look at it when Josh and I remove the engine and trans.

PS...
So far so good. No more problems. I've cleared the codes and not got any more CEL's . Hopefully, the super-clean has resolved it.

Found some insulation cracked and baring the copper.

Get another harness mate, all the issues I had were from shorting of the common +5V and earth in the harness near the injectors/back of the block. Tried to separate the wires to repair and the copper ripped straight out of the insulation. No issues since.

No thermostat is the likely cause ... or the freezing weather you get where you are .. ..

Full code description is ...

17.
Engine Is Cold Too Long.
Engine did not reach operating temperature within acceptable limits.

The words Too Long, and Acceptable Limits are relevant to the ECM programming and emission/CAFE fuel usage requirements ... more so than real world driving scenarios.

Bang a newy in, settle your temps ... and you will have one less issue ..

Bruggz, there are 8 variants of pre-updates here (AFAIK), 4 OBD1's and 4 OBD2's, the looms are different, I have a loom here from a running OBD2 (early) if that's of any benefit...

Oh, wow. Thanks Jj. I assume, being a '96, puts it in the middle somewhere. Of the OBD2 's.
