My humour can sometimes be a little subtle. Nobody else has worked on my Jeep other than CJD Automotive, who changed the injectors and engine mounts for me about 4 years ago. (I do not trust anybody else.) That "damn mechanic" was me!

Yes, I used the Penrite ATF FS (the green label) in the transmission and Mobilfluid 424 in the transfer case.

A short test-drive got the transmission to 90 degrees C (with the coolant at 86 degrees - and remembering both measurements are at the hottest points in their circuits). I need to do more driving to really test it.

Oops, no offence meant, should have picked up on that,,LOL.
I had a problem a while ago trying to get the level right in the auto of my WH, a side issue was there was a small leak where the dipstick tube goes into the box. So I had to pull the tube out to seal it etc. When I got the tube out I found a busted small piece of plastic jambed in the bottom of the tube !!!! So when i put the dip stick in it was hitting on this and not giving a proper reading,,,if i had of looked a bit closer i may have noticed the lenght of dip stick was a bit shy of the required amount..You just cannot trust anything. Anyway it explained why i couldnt seem to get the level right...dont know how the bit of plastic got in there or how long it had been in there.

Got the window regulator blocks machined (I only simplified a design for 3d-printed ones):

3d-printed window regulator blocks also broke, just like the plastic ones.

Looks like they did a nice job on them. When the original ones are about to go do they give any warning at all??

I'm glad I asked for 5, one's staying on my desk as decoration.

The originals just pop and your window rolls down. Zero warning.

I replaced the gear set in the driver's seat rear vertical motor today, purchased from Two Men One Garage (via eBay).

The task was approached with a level of apprehension. I have to say it was unfounded. It was really easy. It took about 2 hours, including a little toolmaking.

My tips:
  1. You need to drive out the knurled pin on the tube nut to remove the motor, but be careful not to bend the lever. I used an air hammer. Worked great.
  2. You need to drift out a rolled pin from the motor mount. I ended up cutting the blade off a small screwdriver to make a drift.
  3. Drifting the knurled pin back in was a challenge. I ended up using a ball-joint separator tool as a press. That worked well.
