The TCM goes right there, where those studs are. That blue/green multi plug is the plug for it.
HTH.

Gave it a degrease. Tryin to get through rego.
I've replaced the bushes in the rear shocks, remodeled the tailpipe, the steering box leak was in fact, the temp sender for the trans. It sits above the box. It's fixed.

Took it back in to get the pink slip, the friggin motor was DRIPPING. Unreal.

Passed everything, bar the leak.[emoji24]

So I got it home, let it cool a little, and ripped into it.

Had to lift the D/S of the motor, to get the torx in there with a 3/8 ratchet. Yes, you read correctly, a 3/8 ratchet. A 10" cheater bar on that, and voila. Too easy. Cleaned the adapter up, new O rings, with some rubber grease, and wacked it back in. Will see at 15:00 if it passes.

Cheers

Another 12 months.

Just noticed, I didn't allude to where the leak was coming from. You've probably guessed by now, though, eh.

After installing the filter adapter and a new filter, I doused the area in brake cleaner. Didn't take long for a oily stream to start pouring off the bellhousing.

Used a can inside the bellhousing also. Just hope it doesn't dry out the rear main....

Haven't had a chance to do a thorough assessment.
Was running perfectly fine yesterday. Towed a small 8x5 trailer with a desk and a cupboard on it back home.. just as I got to my house it cut out but i started again fine. Went to fill up and it took 58L so wasn't that close to empty.

Started up first pop this morning, sat in the drive letting it warm up for a couple of minutes I thought it sounded a bit noisier than normal... Drove up the road got about 800m away and suddenly there was loud knocking / rattling coming from the motor / gbox and it would only idle, no acceleration and then it cut out completely. Towed it back home and when I cranked it it started but was making horrible knocking noises so I shut down straight away.

I fear it may be a bearing that spun? or maybe that POS EGR turned into a grenade?

Lack of experience with diesels leaves me in the dark as to where to start and what to do...

I'll drop the oil some time this week to see if chunky bits come out... Just devastated I bought the car 2 weeks ago, went on holiday and came back. Used it maybe 4 times max and this happened.

much like this now

Any chance that it was filled with petrol?
Wouldnt bother draining oil just yet. If you can borrow a compression tester & give it a compression test would tell you much more.
Doesnt sound like a spun bearing or EGR problem. Anything is possible though.
Its a good thing that you dont have a big puddle of oil under it or a big hole in the side.
The fact it wont rev up suggests a fuel related problem.

hundred percent sure its diesel that I put in, unless the BP filled their Diesel storage tank with petrol...

Possibly a broken timing chain?
Really loud knocking sound like something has let go somewhere.
I should probably start a separate thread for this..
