changed the rear diff fluid and re seated the oil filter adapter. after i pulled it off to get the starter motor out its been weeping. hopefully a good clean and the correct torque setting will fix the job.

also looks like the axle unis are going to need replacing soon. any recommendations on where i could pick up a set of spicer 297/760x(s) in AU ? i did the basic call around on sat (repco, supercrap, autobahn) and got the same response "computer says no." ive seen many vids show removing the unis as a home job. is it as easy as they show? or am i better pulling the axles out and getting them pressed in ?

also fixed the dodgy oil pressure sensor, looks like the signal wire had rubbed through the insulation just next to the plug

Went for a spin up the beach today.

It still feels like it wants to shake, death wobble. I find it's when the front wheels DROP off a ledge, like transitioning between two sections of road, evenly, from side to side. Impacts on one side or another don't seem to unsettle it as much.

Since being in 4wd, it seems the front drive shaft isn't as healthy as I thought!!
I'm sick of these frickin things!!! I'm constantly buying bl00dy U joints. These last ones are the good stuff. Dana Spicer, with the hefty cap that has internal seal. And yeah, I grease regularly. Every service.

I know I've been having wheel alignment issues the past couple of weeks. Is a few hundred klms enough to root unis?? There hasn't been a noticeable vibration. Though, there is NOW!
Something either is REALLY impressed with the Jeep, or thinks I drive too fast, as it it keeps saying... "WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW" or " WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH".

I'm not sure though, if its the front shaft or the wheel bearings. There is no movement, in either.
Both diffs haven't long had new bearings throughout. Transfer case also, has new bearings and seals.

Maybe I'm too picky??
Perhaps a little vibration, a little harmonics from the drivetrain, is all part of the fun and pure enjoyment of Jeep ownership??

I was a little worried though, when it shook itself like a wet dog, and my wife nearly shot out the window!!!!

One diagnostic to pick out bad bearings in particular...is a bit scary!

support all 4 wheels VERY securely off ground.

work way up thru gears to road speed (in 4wd too)

bad wheel or diff bearings in particular will often scream like a banshee when run in an unloaded situation.

drive shaft or wheel wobbles etc, can often be seen or heard by a trained eye

a good assistant is handy in any case

safety first!

I have done this before, to diagnose, I think it was the bearings in the rear diff, when it was in the blue XJ.
