There's def guys out there running 35s on 5"BS out there.

Check out the last couple of issues of 4WD action been a few stories with a black 2dr JK running 35s on DC Torque rims which have 5" of BS. Not sure if he's a Ausjeep member perhaps someone can shed some light?!?

Contemplating dropping out the Mopar 2in coils in favour of something else a little lighter. These coils are quite stiff and after 4,000km have not settled any lower or softer so I dont think they will improve. Still havent tried any other shocks yet, but these springs just seem too stiff for my liking. It might improve after I stick a bar on the front, might wait til after that. Just thinking out loud at the moment.

You might also consider softer (perhaps adjustable) shocks. That can make a big difference to the ride quality and harshness when hitting bumps. If you're happy with the height, it is another option.

Yeah B, thats my see saw of thoughts at the moment - either softer shocks or softer springs. Seeing as how adjustable shocks will suit softer or harder springs anyways and yes I do like the current height, I think that might just be the way I go. Its good to put thoughts up and have others throw their 2c into it.

Have been contemplating the Rancho 9000xl adjustables in the hope they would soften out the ride. I have heard they are pretty good shocks, so if I still am not 100% happy I guess I can sell of the mopar springs and replace with something softer of similar height. Just gotta save up the $750 odd to get them up here LOL.

Ride quality is mostly in the shocks IMHO and if you want to move away from Mopar stuff you need to be prepared to start throwing cash at it when stuff wears out for aftermarket gear.

Oh...dave..you still need to level out your swaybars in accordance with the lift you have. it makes a difference believe it or not!

Default Softer ride

Hi Seacomms
I have just returned after a 1600km trip to Woodgate, 1770 etc, and spent a bit of time playing around with the Rancho's, and tire pressures etc. And the roads between Childers - Woodgate, and Woodgate to 1770 is not real smooth, pretty rough actually around 1770. As I was loaded up with a camper trailer, I had my fronts set at 6 and my rears at 5, 33pds in all tires. I turned the fronts up after all my DW issues trying to prevent the front coils from oscilating, and the rears up to 5 becasue tof the weight. The drive up was OK, although i thought a bit firm. A few days later we drove to 1770 unlaiden, bloody uncomfortable, so I dropped the tire pressues a bit to 30pds, still uncomfortable. On the way back thought I would experiment a bit, as the ride was still firm, and you could really feel the firmness in the front. Moved it back to 3 in the front, 1 in the rear and nice. A good result - very happy with the ride, and the 100km/h rd was shocking, full of pot holes, bumps etc. Increased to 5 in the front and 3 in the rear and 32pds for the trip home and all good. I played around with the tire pressures a bit, and found that the sensors are set at 32pds so kept the tires at a tad over 32. So the adjustables can really help with the ride. I woukld love to try some shocks that are tuned for the coils like the PP ones to see how they perform. The benefit of the adjustables is that if you do not like the ride, you are not stuck with it, you can adjust it, and u can adjust it for different conditions such as towing, highway or city driving.
