I will check out 4x4 Australia and from my point of view the Discovery was probably a better off road vehicle, I say this only because on the highest raised suspension setting the Jeep clunks its arse off and on the first raised suspension setting I don't think it has enough ground clearance. It also seems to hang a wheel in the air more readily than the Discovery. On the road the only faults I can see is that the K-frame bushes in the rear are too soft and it tends to steer from the rear under hard acceleration and it could probably do with a better wheel alignment setting, other than that I cant really fault the Jeep, it handles better, it stops just as good and the diesel is far superior to the 4.4ltr V8 in D3 (and that is a fantastic engine!).
Indeed Trail, 4x4 Aust rated the Jeep CRD very highly, was quicker than the Hi spec D4 diesel & they were impressed with its onroad handling, bloody hard decision in my book. But probably either way, you wouldnt go too far wrong with either.

Couldn't fault it apart from an ongoing niggle which was with it when sold.

Craig, would you buy another d4?

Good question Toddy. Yeah I probably would.
There are good & bad with the D4 & the Jeep.
I like the simplicity of the Jeep & the QD11 set up.
The D4 rode a lot better with the air suspension and the 3.0Lt twin turbo diesel was awesome for towing.

I am happy with the Jeep and it does what I want it to. Can't see me changing in the near future.

Cheers, Craig

I could see myself in another one for sure, but I'd probably buy a 120 Prado or a WH or something like that for off-roading.

Default impressed

hi guys, just got back from LCMP after fitting 275/65/18 Goodyear wrangler MTR'S and the difference these tyres made was incredible!!
i allways thought that there was too much motor car and not enough tyre in stock trim, my theory has now been proven... if your serious about your offroading go the bigger treads the thing would just about drive anywhere.
just wanted to share the love for the TRAILHAWK
(i know the rocket bangs and clangs when topped right out but having some time under my belt iv'e learnt what it likes and does not)
am keen to disconnect the sway bars next time to see if she keeps her head down a bit
