If I could have got a black foam block I would have, but these are 'yoga' blocks from Clark Rubber, $10 - $13ea. (All they had in the size I needed.) And there aren't so many Goth yoga people around!
A couple of coats of flat black spray will probably last until the first bump into something, use them or a few months at least of exposure. But is a matter of seconds to touch up with the rattle can again.
I made the D-ring cutout a tight fit, so it took a bit off when I put them on, but a quick squirt cleaned it up before the pic...
On later thought, they will also stop me kneecapping myself at night, if I'm not paying enough attention in the dark.
