Thanks to all for the advice and heads up.
Blue Fin,Paul-JK,WranglerTJ,Seacomms and Jeep112...
It makes all the difference knowing what people know and appreciate the advice from everyone..

All of what Paul-JK is saying is gold and I'm all for supporting the local guys but if it means saving a Jeep load of cash then I will buy from Quadratec.
I have also been in contact with the RTA about different lift height regulations and also front indicator light distribution and angle so I've printed out all of the rules and regulations for my own browsing. If anyone wants a copy of what they have sent me please let me know or I can post on here but it is quite a few pages long.

All in all I think I will be going with a 4" lift from my local place just because of warranty and problem issues if any and order my front/back bumper, winch, and some other things from Quadratec as it will be heaps cheaper.Plus I can save about $600 on importing tyres 285/70/17 Goodyear MTZ with Kevlar. Also my mate can get me a engineers report for "mates rates".

I'm always up for some 4bing if anyone lives in the Wollongong area as well but keep in mind that my Rubi is stock until I get all of this work done in a few months time..4x4 earth is an awesome site for track locations.
I'll post some pics on here in a few months after I have all of this work done.

Again I want to thanks everyone for there advice and help. If there is anything I can do to help out in return please drop me a line..

4 inches of lift is a lot for 285 tyres. It may look silly. Also consider that some 4" lifts will give you more lift than 4". Although you may get more height with 4", you will generally find that the shock lengths for 3" or 4" is the same from most vendors, so you will not gain any wheel travel over a 3" lift. You may want to look at 3" and 35" tyres which seems to be the most common, although may require an axle ratio change.
other can provide more advice on this than me.

I am considering getting a coil over kit from the US, and here are the facts, for 2x 12" coilovers, 2x coil over brackets, and some miscellaneous things such as nuts and bolts, the kit is $1800 for the front only and the shipping is $1100, for me Im concidering it but is it cheap? NO BLOODY WAY. Depends on what you want and how bad you want it. Now look at what I just said I was concidering, there is not much to ship, in comparison to a fill kit, I would imagine you would be looking at $1500 to $2000 to ship a full kit from AEV. And when your budget is around $1600 to $1700, you have already doubled your money. Dont get me wrong, for me to have a coilover kit, I would pay the shipping, it just means I need to get it front first then the rear, or save for a lot longer. And that my two cents worth.

Hey JKTom,
Thanks for the info.
The thing is I have been told that an engineer will not certify anything over 33" tyre.
Is this true??
I have mates who have 35" tyres and they don't have engineers report but they are risking getting pulled over by RTA.Also if I do go with 35" tyres I might have to do the gear and dif ratio's??

So do I go with a 3"-4" lift with 33" with a engineers report or risk running 35"?
As you say JKTom it might look silly but I'll have to google some images and do some more looking..

Emdee I think you can only answer your question here is it is a risk YOU an you alone will choose to take. I run 35's on a 3" lift with flatties and it is ample clearance. As for the fun police and all states are different but drive sensibly, keep tyres inside guards, have mud flaps and make sure lights all working and good chance they will not give you a second look but it is a risk you take
