I got the genright 5 peice on my tj, a little over priced and will likely change out the middle 3 for a complete peice covering the raised section on the bonnet.

Are you actually having overheating problems at the moment?

No, not at all. It's more of a preventative measure. That and I like the look . I haven't driven it very hard offroad yet since I haven't had it long. Still trying to find the limits of driving a SWB 4wd. Is engine heat a big issue in TJ Wranglers?

Rather than waste your money on something for no reason other than looks, why not drive it and see if it overheats, if it doesn't then throw that money at lockers or something worthwhile!

Yeah, I should. I'm just so overwhelmed with things I want to do and I'm unsure about the order to do things in. The bonnet/grill need a respray due to stone chips and various other marks, so I was just going to see if i can get a cheap scoop and take it to a smash repair shop to get the bonnet and grill done and see how much extra it would be for them to fit and match the scoop. But it's making me wonder if I should just forget about the scoop and get a snorkel.

Stone chips & marks are just battle scars mate. My bonnet has crows feet all over it. I spent $30 & purchased a 2nd hand car bra off gumtree. No ones the wiser when looking at the car.

You're going to waste/spend a lot more money on your beast, do it on a worthwhile project instead

Snorkel yes. Worthwhile mod.

Yeah, I know it's only going to get scratched up again anyway but there is a big round patch on the bonnet where bat crap has been sitting and the people who owned it at the time left it to sit there. Now there is a big patch of bare metal there. There are also thousands of marks absolutely everywhere where they have put a tarp over it, not tied the tarp properly and it has been flapping in the wind and the metal ring in the tarp has been slapping the bonnet for several weeks or more while the rest of the paint is immaculate. I'm not too fussed on paint usually but living 200 meters from the ocean, that bare metal on the bonnet won't last too long.
