If I had to do it all again I would get the LR. Only for the simple fact that you can EASILY and CHEAPLY get parts - not just the motor but for the rest of the car.

Although I still have the occasional ~2000rpm go slow (still trying to figure that one out) the Jeep has done well.. 180k kms and AFAIK no work done on motor. No oil loss (besides the weepy rear seal).

My brother has one too and since he plugged the EGR it doesn't blow any smoke and has 220k kms on it, again AFAIK no work done on the motor. Weepy rear seal on his also.

Beside the PCM is a solenoid that enables vacuum to suck open an actuator that allows some exhaust gas to flow into the intake air stream. Easiest way to plug it is isloate the small rubber tube sticking out from the solenoid (black box towards the rear of the PCM) and stick a screw up it, leaving the thin tube hanging free. Also heard of guys using a blanking plate and plugging the exhaust hose connector, or completely removing the body and actuator.

Either way

HTH
