what mileage do you have on the odo? as some 05 - 06 have had the opda gear fail, that puts the cam position sensor out of whack

to check the gear you have to pull the complete opda out

however it does seem a co-incidence that the problem began after doing a water crossing so check things as previous posts first
Hi bonza, i have 115000 on the odo i will take the opda out today reading about this on other forums i am thinking this is my problem could this be under some kind of call back warranty? i am out of warranty now just will have to see. cheers mate

here is a good link of what to do http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/20...ilure-1144202/

dont hold your breath with the dealer. approach them, but most likely they will fob you off.

for what its worth, I pull my OPDA every oil change to inspect it. will be doing the mods as suggested in the above link

Changed the battery around 3 months ago mate, this one has really got me thinking i did notice my fuel pump is making a humming noise when you go to start the heep my brothers 05 jeep wrangler fuel pump doesn't hum. I am thinking maybe could be the fuel pump i did notice while i was offroad while i was away there was a squealing sound from right side rear of the jeep but i thought it mite have been something stuck in the rim maybe i'll give that a shot the carbie looks a little dry to.

Hi

I would have another look into your fuel Vs water situation... Sounds exactly like what happened to my CJ when it went for a swim. The big V8 ingested a bit and the tank got a bit too... Had to fill it up with premium and put a fuel dryer in, like a fuel conditioning treatment... took a whole trip from Melb to canberra to clean her out and run nice again....
besides, fuel conditioning stuff is only $15... cant hurt to try!
