Bought the idrive last week. First one arrived and was faulty. Contacted idrive and they sent a new one and received it the next day. It works insanely well. Couldn't believe the difference it has made. No throttle lag at all.

The unit arrived yesterday, fitted and tested it today.

I expected something for my $200 but the result blew me away. I have it set on U3 and it's like the devil has taken control. Feather light on the throttle and she's off, no lag, sharp gear changes, fantastic acceleration.

I always felt the 3.0 CRD was plenty powerful, but it's now gone to the next level. When I work up the courage I'll experiment with higher settings but I can't imagine ever needing more than U3.

I don't pretend to (fully) understand the technology, but it's doing more than just eliminating throttle lag, somehow the whole power experience is seriously enhanced. I've now given away any ideas of getting a remap, just not necessary.

Didn't take me long to experiment further, talk about a kid with a new toy! U3 / U4 settings are great and U9 is just stupidly lethal. Think I'll mostly leave it to the AC setting (auto), which seems so well calibrated for most conditions: Smooth control in traffic, but on the highway just blow on the pedal and you're at warp speed.
For anyone who's still a skeptic, you don't know what you're missing. Can't wait to tow with it.

I had mine set to auto at first which I got used to, however my wife and daughter both being lead foots, were all over the place with it, which made me change it to U3.

Cheers, Craig

I understand from various reports that the lower U settings are also where you get the best gains in fuel economy, so another reason for U3 being ideal. That may or may not be proven over time, but for me it's not a prime motivator.

so being firmly in the "how can these actually be that good" camp i thought i would get one and see what all the fuss is about. Verdict after a few days and 1000 odd km's is in . Is it worth it ....... if it cost more than it did no, for the moneyi'm still not convinced . Yes the lag is gone but that really can be done with your right foot anyway .

The one area it does shine in is overtaking on country roads. The instant throttle response meant i had alot of fun driving the 500km home yesterday . u9 is undriveable and i settled on u5 . economy mode should be renamed wife mode. auto didn't seem much different from u mode .

Would i buy another one, probably not . I can't see where all the hype is coming from .

fuel economy for me was actually up but that's probably because i spent soo much time overtaking at 140 plus

Interesting in your experience in responsiveness when you're sitting there and want to go from a standing start into a break in the traffic please? Standard has a tendancy to wait a week and then go with an awful rush.

Thanks
