To answer some questions
I'm looking at mount LED's in the bar to supplement the exist lights. They're not cheap though and I want some flush ones so will take my time and find something that suits. I need to visit a truck supply place.
I haven't sourced a catch yet, I'm not sure if the carrier will go all the way across to the opposite side or just past the centre, that decision will also help me decide on the catch. If it goes all the way across I might try a bear claw catch where a stud comes up out of the bar and you can just slam it shut. This wont work if I dont go all the way across as the stud will get in the way of the tailgate opening.
As for making more, It certainly is one of those things you only do for yourself
Especially when you're cutting everything with a grinder and bending the steel on the work bench, maybe with the more professional tools it would be worth while but this way it takes days and lots of sweat.
I'll post some updates later today, I've done a couple of hours this morning and made up one of the returns, I'll do the other, shape the end of the bar and weld them on today (hopefully)
Cheers
Steve
