Where did you get the trans cooler from Mark. I think the fan option is the way to go. If you have a link or prices it would be awesome.

Cheers!

Mate, the KK is more capable than a Prado. The Wrangler will do better off-road of course but drives very differently on road, so forget about car like handling and using 4high in wet roads unless you're on a straight section. Being a diesel would be a plus in my book but I suspect the awesome 2.8 in the KK becomes a bit underpowered in the JK.

IMO your tranny got a bit hot, unless it's well cooled there's no option but to pull over and let it recover. Unfortunately the 3.7 is thirsty and it came with an average auto. Ideally the KK should only have been built running the 2.8 with its 5 speed selectable auto, which is probably why owners struggle to find a better or even equal replacement.

The KK won grudging respect from my prado owning friends. I'll admit my 3.7 is fully locked and diffs re geared to 4.56 with matching rubber. However it can pull a load up slippery tracks while my mates prados followed. These same friends are too nervous to do the same tracks into a great camp spot as they though it to hairy. The KK loved it.

Have you done much to your Kontek?
