Update - on pads and glue

The new Heavy duty double sided tape i used to hold the cable tie pads to the back of the Jeep nose has also come off - so what i have now done is to drop the self adhesive cable tie blocks into Prepsol for about a minute then the double side tape just peels off - then i used good old fashioned contact adhesive (the snot type) - a bit on the pad and a bit on the back of the jeep nose, let them go touch dry (about 5 mins in Tas) then press the cable tie pad down - seems to be working much better.

You need to get some of the double sided tape that you use to fit body mouldings on - supercheap sell it by the roll.

Yeh i saw that last weekend and thought about it - if it works it would be great - just had enough of taking the grill on and off for a while though so i thought i'ld try glue. Be interesting to know if anyone tries the tape from supercheap to see if it works, because it would make the job easier.

I would assume that the cablie tie pads didn't stick to the body of the grill because you didn't wipe it down with metholated spirits before applying?

Yup I wiped it down first both with meths and prepsol which should remove all trace of grease and oil etc - i did not try a light sand before sticking them down though that might work as it would help the grill key - i think the problem with the sticky pads is part stick and part heat from the intercooler.

I was thinking it would be easier to put a bend in the top of the mesh and the sides, cut out the excess and screw it to the plastic (two holes)on either side of the intercooler and to the two screws at the top. Proabably solder on metal strips on the sides and the top to reinforce, with some rubber to protect the paint.

Just a thought and possibly cheaper
