How hard would it be to make the press with a smaller bolt?
Maybe a 4mm 8.8 bolt or something?
Actually, Could you use a narrower bolt, and instead of it threading into the die, it threads into a nut on he other side, giving the same effect, just less work?

There are things called Interscrews you can get - 6mm on the outside and M4 on the inside, you could use one of these in your tool to reduce the hole without having to re-make the tool.... maybe

Nah not yet, been really busy with my mother in law having cancer and dealling with the wrecks that I have currently to do too much with this project.
It is going ahead though and will post up the results when it is done....

Well I thought it was time to revisit this mod (it's only been 3 1/2 years...), I really want to have this done before heading to Cape York this year, want to get rid of the annoying quarter glass to improve rear vision, I'm also going to be fitting the update mirrors (yuck) for two reasons, firstly they're a little bigger to help with the trailer on the back and secondly they can be folded in unike the pre-update mirrors which spring back, despite them not actually suiting an Xj due to their rounded edges I'll be fitting them anyway....

The I had to remove the front track from the update door, this is spot welded into the door some drilling was required...
Then it was time to break out the toys..
